Chhandas
Metre — the feet of the Veda
The Vedanga of prosody and the metres of the mantras.
Chhandas is the science of metre, describing the syllabic patterns — Gayatri, Anushtubh, Trishtubh, Jagati and others — in which the Vedic and later verses are composed. The Chhandas Shastra is attributed to Pingala.
