Astronomy — the eyes of the Veda
The Vedanga of astronomy and the timing of sacred rites.
Jyotisha, the 'eye' of the Veda, is the science of the heavens — computing the movements of the sun, moon and grahas to fix the auspicious times (muhurta) for yajna and observance. It is the root of the Panchang tradition.
