The 27 Nakshatras
The lunar mansions
The 27 nakshatras are the lunar mansions through which the moon travels each month.
From Ashwini to Revati, the twenty-seven nakshatras divide the ecliptic and underlie the traditional calendar and Panchang. Each has a presiding deity and symbol, and the moon's nakshatra shapes the character of a day.
